Prepayment meter flourished from South Africa after STS (Standard Transfer Specification) was established in 1990s. Calin is one of the earliest pioneers who successfully applied STS prepaid technology to water metering. CA568 is an STSA approved prepaid water meter built with an internal ball valve driven by a low energy moter which enables the meter to shut down when credit finishes and restore water supply only after customer complete recharge.
To top-up or recharge the water meter, a consumer just need to purchase 20 digits' recharge token from the vendor and punch in the code with the CIU. The CIU is an extension keypad of the meter and is installed within customer's premise, in wireless radio connection with the meter outdoors. Customer can toggle up and check the meter's data, credit status and historical usage date from the CIU. This split design vastly reduce the chance of being tampered.
Calinmeter is working with mainstream payment service providers such as visa, mastercard, TigoPesa MPESA, Airtel, MTN, Vodacom, Paypal, Orange, etc. to provide instant vending service to service providers. Customers only need to submit their purchase with their mobile phones and will get top-up code in return.
